What to do first, what people here actually type, and the honest limits of what search can do for a new business
Most SEO advice is written for businesses competing nationally in a crowded market. A tailor in Gujranwala, a clinic in Karachi or a tour operator in Islamabad has a much simpler problem and a much better chance, because the competition is usually not trying. This is what actually matters, in the order it matters, for a small business here — and what search genuinely cannot do for you.
If somebody can visit you or you travel to them, the map results sit above everything else and take most of the clicks. A complete Google Business Profile beats a better website that has one.
That work is free, takes an afternoon, and is covered properly in our Google Business Profile guide — including the name-field mistake that gets listings suspended.
Reviews feed the same results, and they are the part most businesses never ask for. Our reviews guide covers asking without breaking the rules.
Do these two things before touching anything technical on the site. For a shop, a clinic, a workshop or a salon, they are most of the available result.
Search behaviour in Pakistan has some habits worth knowing:
The practical version: write the words your customers use, not the words your industry uses. "Mobile repair" beats "device servicing solutions".
The most common mistake is a single Services page listing nine things. Google has nothing specific to rank, and a visitor searching for one of the nine has to hunt.
Give each real service its own page, and on each one answer what a customer would ask: what it is, who it is for, what it costs or what the range depends on, how long it takes, and how to start.
Three good service pages beat a twenty-page site of thin ones. If you cannot write something genuinely useful about a service, it probably does not need its own page yet.
This is small and it is skipped constantly. Your city and area should appear as readable text — not only inside an image or a map embed — on your contact page, in your footer, and on the service pages where it makes sense.
If you serve several areas, a page per area is reasonable only if each one says something real about working there. Twenty near-identical pages with the place name swapped is thin content, and it does more harm than nothing.
Keep the name, address and phone identical to your Google listing and your social profiles. Disagreement between them weakens the whole picture.
Almost all of your traffic is mobile, often on a mid-range Android on a patchy connection. That changes what matters:
You do not need an audit with 200 items. For a small site, these cover most of the available benefit:
That is the list. Beyond it you are in diminishing returns until the content and the local listing are doing their job.
A new domain with no history takes months before it ranks for anything competitive. Local map results can move much faster — sometimes within weeks of a verified listing with real reviews.
Anyone guaranteeing a first position in thirty days is either targeting searches nobody makes or doing something that will cost you later.
Worth saying clearly, because it saves money:
You describe the business once — what you sell, where, and in which areas — and WebNewBiz builds the site with a page per service, your city and contact details in text on every page, titles and descriptions written for people, compressed images and a sitemap, so the technical list above is done rather than left to you.
The site comes out of the website builder, enquiries land in the CRM, and the pricing page shows the running cost.
How long does it take to rank on Google in Pakistan?
Local map results can move within weeks of a verified Google Business Profile with real reviews. Ranking a new website for competitive searches takes months, and specific low-competition terms come long before broad valuable ones. Anyone promising a first position in thirty days is selling something else.
Should I write my website in Urdu or English?
English, unless you know your customers search otherwise. Search in Pakistan is overwhelmingly typed in Roman script even by people who speak Urdu — "lawn suits online", "car ac repair lahore". Write the words your customers use rather than the words your industry uses.
What matters most for a local business on Google?
The Google Business Profile and reviews, before anything on the website. For a shop, clinic, workshop or salon the map results sit above everything else and take most of the clicks, and that work is free and takes an afternoon.
Do I need a page for every area I serve?
Only if each page says something genuinely different about working in that area. Twenty near-identical pages with the place name swapped is thin content and does more harm than having none. One good page naming the areas you cover is usually better.
Why is my website not ranking even though it looks good?
Usually because it has one Services page instead of a page per service, no city or address in readable text, images heavy enough to lose mobile visitors, or no Google Business Profile. Looking good and being findable are different problems, and the second one is mostly unglamorous.
Everything else is on the blog.
Set up your Google listing, ask ten customers for a review, and write down the services you actually sell — then start for $1 and describe the business so each one gets a page worth ranking. More guides are on the blog.
