A plain comparison of the builders worth moving to, with October 2026 prices, what each one actually replaces and what you give up.
GoDaddy's builder is good at one thing: getting a simple site online quickly, next to your domain, with someone to call when it goes wrong. Most people who leave are not leaving because it broke. They leave because the layout feels boxed in, the renewal price is higher than the first-year price, or the thing they actually need (a real store, bookings, somewhere to keep leads) sits behind another upgrade. This guide compares the realistic alternatives on prices at the time of writing (October 2026), what each one replaces, and what you give up.
Five reasons come up again and again. It is worth deciding which one is yours, because the answer changes which alternative is right.
Where GoDaddy still wins: if your domain, email and site all live in one account, you only need six pages, and the price you pay is one you are happy with, moving for the sake of moving is not worth your weekend.
Builders are sold as whole platforms, so it is easy to pay for five jobs when you need two. Before comparing prices, tick the jobs that are genuinely yours this year.
Our AI website checklist is a useful second pass once you have a shortlist.
All figures are US dollars per month on annual billing at the time of writing (October 2026). Prices in your country, and on monthly billing, will differ.
| Platform | Price (annual billing) | Store included | Suits | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wix | Light $17, Core $29, Business $39, Business Elite $159 | Core and above (Light cannot take payments) | The closest like-for-like swap, with the biggest app market | More freedom means more design decisions to make yourself |
| Squarespace | Basic $19, Core $29, Plus $49, Advanced $99 | Yes, with a 2% store fee on Basic | Brochure sites, portfolios, anything that must look considered | Fewer layout liberties, and store fees at the entry tier |
| Hostinger Website Builder | $2.99, but only on a 48-month prepaid term, renewing at $10.99 | Only on the Business builder plan | The cheapest route to a tidy few-page site | The headline price needs four years paid up front |
| Durable | Launch $22, Grow $41 | Invoices and payment links rather than a catalogue | Solo trades who bill clients instead of selling products | Small sites, and the CRM and invoicing stay basic |
| 10Web | AI Starter $10 | On a separate ecommerce plan | People who want WordPress and plugins without managing servers | You still live in the WordPress admin |
| Shopify | Basic $29, Grow $79, Advanced $299 | Yes, the strongest of the lot | Product businesses with real catalogues, variants and shipping | Weakest for content pages, and no CRM for service enquiries |
| Webflow or Framer | Webflow Basic $15 and CMS $25 (ecommerce from $29 with a 2% fee on Standard), Framer Basic $10 and Pro $30 per site | Webflow yes, Framer has no built-in checkout | Design-led sites where someone enjoys the tool | A real learning curve that only pays off with time |
| GoHighLevel | Starter $97, Unlimited $297, Agency Pro $497 | Funnels and payments, not a full catalogue | Agencies and teams running heavy outbound marketing | Priced and built for agencies, not for one shop |
| WebNewBiz | Lite $9, Starter $29, Growth $79, Pro $149, Ultimate $199 ($1 first month) | Starter and above | One bill for the AI site, the store and the CRM | Young platform with a much smaller app ecosystem |
We build WebNewBiz, so take this section with the appropriate pinch of salt and check the detail on our pricing page.
The idea is one subscription instead of three. You describe your business in plain language and the AI drafts a complete site, pages, layout and copy included, which you then edit in the browser or by chatting to the AI Copilot. Every plan includes hosting, a full WordPress CMS, SSL, mobile optimisation, templates and 24/7 chat support. The Design Studio visual editor arrives on Starter and above.
Plans are $1 for the first month, then Lite at $9 for one site with the AI builder, Starter at $29 which adds Design Studio, Brand Kit and the online store (cart, secure checkout, card and Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, running on WooCommerce, Shopify or our own engine), and Growth at $79 which adds the AI CRM with 3,000 contacts and three team members. The CRM reads and scores leads, holds deals, tasks and bookings, sends invoices that chase themselves, and includes an AI funnel builder with 26 templates. Website enquiries and store buyers land there automatically. Pro at $149 adds email campaigns, social media, advanced SEO and a site audit, daily backups and Website Booster. Ultimate at $199 adds the AI chatbot, a phone system with two-way SMS from its own number, AI Mockups, SalesKit and AI Video.
The honest weaknesses: it is a young platform with a much smaller app ecosystem and community than Wix, Squarespace or Shopify, so if your shortlist includes a specific third-party app, check it exists. The AI first draft still needs your own edits, photos and facts. There is no free plan, only the $1 first month. The CRM does not appear until $79, so Lite and Starter are site-and-store products. There is no built-in IDX or MLS feed for property listings and no crew dispatch for field service teams. For a large product catalogue, Shopify is still the better tool, and for a design-led portfolio, Squarespace is still the easier win. If the bundle is what appeals, website builder with CRM goes into it properly.
People leaving GoDaddy often assume the next platform will let them take everything with them next time. It will not, and this is worth knowing before you choose rather than after.
The practical defence is the same everywhere. Keep your own copies of your copy and photographs, download your product list and customer list as CSV every few months, and register your domain in an account you control so the site is the only thing you ever have to rebuild.
A switch costs rankings when pages quietly disappear, not because you changed platform. Work through this in order.

Is there a free alternative to GoDaddy's website builder?
There are free tiers, but they come with limits. GoDaddy's own AI builder is free to start with a monthly allowance of AI credits. Durable has a free plan with a CRM capped at 10 contacts and no invoicing. Free tiers almost always mean a branded subdomain and no card payments, so treat them as a way to test the editor rather than a home for a real business site. WebNewBiz has no free plan: it is $1 for the first month, then from $9 a month. Our free AI website builder page explains what the $1 month does and does not cover.
Can I move my GoDaddy site to another builder?
Yes, but it is a rebuild rather than a transfer. Your text, images, product list, contacts and domain can all move. The layout cannot, because no mainstream builder hands you working design files for another platform. Plan for a few hours of rebuilding on a small site and a day or more on a bigger one.
What is the cheapest GoDaddy alternative that can take card payments?
On annual billing in October 2026, the realistic floor is around $19 to $29 a month: Squarespace Basic at $19 (with a 2% store fee), then Wix Core at $29, Shopify Basic at $29 and WebNewBiz Starter at $29. Hostinger is cheaper on paper at $2.99 a month, but that needs a 48-month prepaid term, renews at $10.99 and its store features sit on the Business builder plan. Wix Light at $17 cannot take payments at all.
Do I have to move my domain as well?
No. You can leave the domain registered where it is and point it at the new site by changing DNS records, or transfer it if you would rather have one bill. Either way, check your email records before you change anything, because business email often runs on the same domain and a careless DNS edit can stop mail arriving.
Which alternative is best if I also need a CRM?
Durable includes a basic CRM and invoicing from $22 a month, which is enough for a solo trade that bills a handful of clients. GoHighLevel is the heavyweight at $97 a month, built for agencies and outbound marketing teams. WebNewBiz sits between them: the AI CRM starts on the Growth plan at $79 a month with 3,000 contacts and three team members. Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and GoDaddy all expect you to bring your own CRM. If this is new ground, your first CRM is a gentler start.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I switch?
Not if you keep the same URLs where you can and set 301 redirects for the ones that change. Expect some movement for four to eight weeks while Google recrawls. Rankings are usually lost to missing redirects, deleted pages and thin rewritten copy, not to the act of changing platform.
If your shortlist has come down to "a site that looks current, a store, and somewhere my enquiries stop getting lost", the WebNewBiz website builder is worth an hour of your time. Describe your business, see what the AI drafts, and judge it on the draft rather than on this page. It is start for $1 for the first month, no minimum contract, and if it is not right then one of the options above probably is.
