Durable drafts a site in 30 seconds. Here is what to use instead when the editing, the store or the price stops working for you.
Durable can draft a small business website in about 30 seconds, and it bundles a CRM, bookings and invoicing into the same subscription. For a solo trader who needs to be online by Friday, that is a fair deal. The complaints tend to arrive in week two, when the layout will not bend the way you want, the blog turns out to be thin, there is no proper shop, and the real monthly price lands. This guide compares the honest alternatives, with prices verified at the time of writing (October 2026).

Nobody leaves because the first draft was bad. They leave because of what happens after it.
Be fair about this before you switch, because some alternatives are a step backwards.

Prices are US dollars at the time of writing (October 2026) and reflect each vendor's own published pricing. Annual billing is assumed where it is offered.

If you want a wider field than the Durable-shaped tools here, our round-up of the best AI website builders covers the same platforms against different criteria.
Hocoos appeared on most Durable alternative lists for two years. It shut down on 23 April 2026, with a one-month window from 23 March for users to export an HTML copy of their site, uploaded files, and store, booking and mailing list data. Sites and files left on its servers after the cutoff were deleted.
That is worth sitting with. Hosted AI builders are not interchangeable with a folder of files you control. Before you commit to any of them, including this one, ask three things: can I get my customer data out in a standard format, is my domain registered somewhere I control, and do I have my own copy of the text and images. If the answer to all three is yes, a shutdown is a bad week rather than a lost business.
It is also the honest reason to treat free plans carefully. Free is a good way to see whether the editor suits you, and we have written about what free AI website builders really include, but the cheapest tier of a company with no clear revenue is not where your only copy of anything should live.
WebNewBiz is built for the gap this comparison keeps showing: an AI website builder where the first draft is a starting point rather than a ceiling. You describe the business in plain language, the AI drafts the pages, layout and copy, and then you change it by chatting with the Copilot or by using the Design Studio visual editor on Starter and above. Underneath is a full WordPress CMS, so a proper blog and the plugins you need later are not a problem.
The store is real: cart, secure checkout, card payments through Stripe, Apple Pay and Google Pay, running on WooCommerce, Shopify or our own engine. From the Growth plan at $79, the AI CRM reads and scores leads, holds deals, tasks and bookings, and sends invoices that chase themselves. Website enquiries land there automatically and store buyers become contacts, which is the part most builders leave you to wire up yourself.
Now the honest side. There is no free plan: the first month is $1 and then you pay. Lite at $9 has no store and no CRM, so the comparison most people should be making is Starter at $29 or Growth at $79, not $9 against Durable's $22. We are younger than Wix, Squarespace and Shopify, with a much smaller app ecosystem and community behind us. The AI first draft still needs your own edits, photos and facts, exactly as Durable's does. And like every hosted builder here, your content and domain move if you leave, but the layout gets rebuilt rather than exported as files.
If you are still deciding what the new site should look like, try the free AI Website Preview: one sentence about your business and it designs a homepage, no account needed. It is a quick way to see whether an AI draft gets close enough to be worth editing.
Is Durable good enough for a small business website?
For a one-person service business that needs a mobile-friendly site, a lead form, bookings and invoices, yes. Durable covers that in one subscription and drafts the site in about 30 seconds. It is a poor fit if you need a real store, a proper blog with custom fields and multiple authors, or a page layout that does not match what the AI produced.
What is the closest alternative to Durable with a CRM included?
B12 and WebNewBiz are the closest on paper. B12 puts its contact manager, payments, invoicing, contracts and email marketing on the Website plus Client Engagement plan at $78 a month at the time of writing (October 2026). WebNewBiz adds its AI CRM, with lead scoring, deals, tasks and invoices that chase themselves, on the Growth plan at $79 a month.
Which Durable alternative is cheapest once the intro offer ends?
10Web AI Starter at $10 a month and Framer Basic at $10 a month are the lowest honest monthly prices in this group, and Hostinger Premium renews at $10.99 a month after its 48-month prepaid term. WebNewBiz Lite is $9 a month, but it has no store and no CRM. Durable itself sits at roughly $22 to $49 a month depending on plan and billing.
Do any of these builders have a free plan?
Durable, B12, Wix, Framer and Squarespace all let you build and preview for free, with a branded subdomain and limits on AI credits. Taking payments or connecting your own domain needs a paid plan everywhere. WebNewBiz has no free tier at all: the first month is $1, then the plan price.
Can I move my Durable site to another builder?
Not as files. Copy your text into a document, download your images, export your customer and invoice records, and point your domain at the new host. The new platform rebuilds the layout. This is true of almost every hosted AI builder, including WebNewBiz, so judge a platform on whether you want to stay rather than on how easily you can leave.
Which one should I pick if I mainly want to sell products?
Not Durable, by its own description. Pick Shopify Basic at $29 a month if selling is the business, Squarespace Core at $29 or Wix Core at $29 if the shop is part of a wider site, or WebNewBiz Starter at $29 if you want the AI drafting and a WordPress CMS with the store. Avoid Squarespace Basic at $19 if you sell much, because of its 2 percent transaction fee.
There is no pressure here. If Durable works for you, keep it. If the limits are getting in the way and you want an AI draft you can keep editing, with a store and a CRM in the same place, you can start for $1 and see what the AI makes of your business in an evening. Cancel any time, and if you do, your account stays readable so you can take your content with you.
