Hostinger's $2.99 needs a four-year prepayment and has no store; Wix Light can't take payments. Here is what each really costs, and what you get for it.
Ask ChatGPT or Google for an AI website builder and two names keep coming up: Hostinger and Wix. On price they look miles apart. Hostinger advertises $2.99 a month and Wix starts at $17. The real gap is more complicated. Hostinger's $2.99 needs a four-year prepayment and cannot run a shop, and Wix's $17 plan cannot take payments either. This guide compares what you actually pay, how good each AI first draft is, what you can sell, and the apps and marketing tools. It also covers where a third option fits.

If you want the lowest bill and are happy to pay four years up front, Hostinger is hard to beat. Even at its higher renewal price, it costs less per year than any Wix plan that can take payments.
If you want more design freedom, a bigger store, a free plan to experiment with, or a particular app, Wix is the safer choice. Most independent reviews in 2026 rate Wix as the more capable builder and Hostinger as the better value for simple sites.
If you would rather change your site by typing instructions, pay month to month, and later run enquiries and customers from the same place, WebNewBiz is a third option. It is younger than both and has far fewer apps than Wix, which we cover honestly below.
These are the prices at the time of writing (October 2026), in US dollars, before tax. Hostinger's are promotional rates on a 48-month term. Wix's are for annual billing, and paying Wix monthly costs more. The four-year totals assume today's prices hold.
| Plan | Price | How you pay | Can it sell? | Four years, before tax |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hostinger Premium | $2.99/month | $143.52 up front for 48 months, then $10.99/month | No | $143.52 |
| Hostinger Unlimited | $3.99/month | $191.52 up front for 48 months, then $16.99/month | Yes | $191.52 |
| Wix Light | $17/month | $204 a year, billed yearly | No (cannot take payments) | $816 |
| Wix Core | $29/month | $348 a year, billed yearly | Yes | $1,392 |
| WebNewBiz Lite | $9/month | $1 first month, then monthly, cancel any time | No | $424 (less on yearly billing) |
| WebNewBiz Starter | $29/month | $1 first month, then monthly, cancel any time | Yes | $1,364 (less on yearly billing) |
Three things stand out.
Hostinger and Wix both include a free domain for the first year. After that, a .com renews at roughly $20 a year on either. WebNewBiz includes a free domain for a year from the Growth plan.
Both builders ask you to describe your business and produce a site within minutes, but they work differently.
Hostinger has two modes. The standard mode turns a single prompt into a ready-made site that you then adjust with drag-and-drop. One 2026 test timed it at about 30 seconds. A newer chat-based mode builds and edits the site through conversation, but it runs on AI credits. The website builder plans include a small allowance (5 credits on Premium and 15 on Unlimited at the time of writing), and you can buy more if you run out. Hostinger's help pages say every message uses some credit. In that mode, even small manual edits use a little.
Wix starts with a chat that asks what your site is for and who it serves. It then builds pages, copy and images, and can add a store, bookings or a blog. You can start free without a card. Its newer Harmony editor, launched in January 2026, adds an AI agent called Aria that makes changes when you ask, alongside normal drag-and-drop. Wix is rolling Harmony out gradually next to its classic editor. For now it works only in English, and some Wix apps are not yet available in it.
On quality, reviewers broadly agree. Hostinger is quick, and its first draft is often close to what you asked for, but the designs tend to look more basic and the AI text can be generic. One September 2026 review also found that its AI image generator produced an unusable image. Wix's drafts are generally richer, and it has a far larger template library to fall back on.
Neither draft is ready to publish as it stands. On any builder, check:

The draft takes minutes. Most of your time goes on the small changes over the following year, so the editor matters more than the generator.
Hostinger's editor is deliberately simple. That suits owners who want to swap a heading and a photo and get on with their day, but reviewers note it allows less customisation than Wix.
Wix gives you near-total control of layout, animations and styling. The trade-off is that there is more to learn, and it is easier to build a page that looks good on a desktop and messy on a phone.
WebNewBiz takes a third route. You describe what you want and its AI Copilot changes the copy, sections, pages, design and images. This works on every plan, including the $9 Lite plan. Starter adds the Design Studio visual editor for times when you would rather click. If you think about changes as 'make the services page shorter and move the prices higher up', editing by chat feels natural. If you want pixel-level control, Wix remains the stronger tool.
If you sell products, this matters more than the headline prices.
| What to compare | Hostinger | Wix | WebNewBiz |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheapest plan that can sell | Unlimited: $3.99/month on a 48-month term | Core: $29/month, billed yearly | Starter: $29/month after a $1 first month |
| Product limit | Up to 1,000, according to Hostinger's store page | Up to 50,000 | Ask before you commit if your catalogue is large |
| Payments | Stripe, PayPal, dLocal Go | Wix Payments: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal | Card via Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay |
| Worth knowing | Digital products, services and print-on-demand; shipping zones, tax, discounts, gift cards | Bookings and services on Core; selling on social channels and marketplaces; a large choice of store apps | Runs on WooCommerce, Shopify or WebNewBiz's own engine; buyers become CRM contacts from Growth |
Two cautions on Hostinger. Its store page says up to 1,000 products, but some 2026 reviews of the newer AI Builder report lower caps, so confirm the limit for your plan before you prepay four years. And although Hostinger takes no commission, your payment provider still charges its normal fees.
Wix adds no transaction fee of its own either. With Wix Payments in the US, standard card payments cost 2.9% plus $0.30 each (American Express and PayPal cost more), so a $50 order costs $1.75 to process. That is a processing fee, not a platform commission.
For a few dozen products, all three cope. For thousands of products, many variants or selling across marketplaces, Wix is the more proven choice, as is a dedicated store platform such as Shopify.
This is where Wix pulls clearly ahead. Its App Market has hundreds of apps covering marketing, selling, bookings and events, media and communication, plus many made by Wix itself. Paid apps typically cost about $3-20 a month each, so the costs add up. But if you need something specific, there is usually an app for it.
Hostinger has no app market. Instead it offers a short list of built-in integrations: Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, WhatsApp and a custom code option. For a simple business site that is often enough. If you later need something outside that list, there is no add-on store to turn to.
Here WebNewBiz is closer to Hostinger than to Wix: its app ecosystem and community are much smaller than Wix's. Its answer is to build the common tools into the plans rather than rely on third-party apps. Depending on the plan, that means a store, CRM, funnels, email campaigns and a chatbot. If your business depends on one particular app, check whether Wix has it before you decide.
A site nobody visits earns nothing, so look at what each one offers for getting found and following up.
If you only need a site that looks good and gets found, Hostinger or Wix will cover you. A built-in CRM starts to matter when enquiries slip through the cracks: quotes never chased, follow-ups forgotten, customers scattered across three inboxes.
WebNewBiz puts a website, online store and CRM on one platform. You describe your business in plain language, the AI drafts the pages, layout and copy, and you refine it by chatting. Every plan includes hosting, SSL, a full WordPress CMS, mobile optimisation and 24/7 chat support.
Every plan costs $1 for the first month. After that, Lite is $9 a month (website only), Starter $29 (adds the store and Design Studio), Growth $79 (adds the AI CRM with 3,000 contacts) and Pro $149 (adds email campaigns and social media). Yearly billing is cheaper and there is no minimum contract. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. After that the account stays read-only so you can export your content. The full list is on the pricing page.
It is the better pick if you want to edit by describing changes and do not want to prepay four years. It also suits you if you expect to need a store and a CRM and would rather not stitch separate tools together.
It is not the better pick on pure cost: over four years, Starter at $29 a month costs far more than Hostinger Unlimited. Wix also has a free plan, many more templates and a far bigger app market, while WebNewBiz has no free plan and a much smaller community. And as with every builder here, its first draft still needs your own edits, photos and facts. For a closer look, see our WebNewBiz vs Wix comparison.
If neither Hostinger nor Wix feels right, our guide to the best AI website builders covers more options, and our list of Wix alternatives goes deeper on the trade-offs.
Is Hostinger's AI website builder really $2.99 a month?
Only on a 48-month term paid up front, which is $143.52 at checkout plus tax, renewing at $10.99 a month. That Premium plan has no online store. Selling needs the Unlimited plan at $3.99 a month on the same term ($191.52 up front), renewing at $16.99 a month.
Can you sell online with Wix Light?
No. Wix Light ($17 a month on annual billing) cannot take payments. Core, at $29 a month on annual billing, is the cheapest Wix plan that can run a store.
Which makes the better AI first draft, Hostinger or Wix?
Most 2026 reviews rate Wix's drafts as richer and more flexible. Hostinger's are faster and simpler but look more basic. Neither is ready to publish until you add your own photos, prices and facts.
Does Hostinger have an app market like Wix?
No. Hostinger has built-in integrations such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager and WhatsApp, but no app store. The Wix App Market has hundreds of apps, and many of them charge a monthly fee.
Is there a free plan on Hostinger, Wix or WebNewBiz?
Wix has a free plan that shows Wix ads and uses a wixsite.com address. Hostinger has no free plan but offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. WebNewBiz has no free plan either: the first month costs $1.
Is WebNewBiz cheaper than Hostinger?
No. Hostinger is cheaper if you prepay four years. WebNewBiz costs $1 for the first month, then $9 a month for a website, $29 with a store or $79 with the AI CRM. There is no minimum contract, and you edit the site by chatting.
The fairest way to compare AI builders is to give each one the same description of your business and see what comes back. You can start with our free AI Website Preview, which designs a homepage from one sentence. If you like the result, the WebNewBiz AI website builder drafts the full site, and you can start for $1 for the first month with no contract. And if Hostinger or Wix suits you better after reading this, that is a perfectly good outcome too.
